The discussion focused on self-awareness, guiding the youth to reflect on whether they are simply completing tasks or are anxious to “prove themselves.” Karen Wong, President of the Chicago YAD and a current doctoral student, shared that academic success or failure is often tightly linked to self-worth, making it difficult to separate the two under high pressure. She reminded herself to learn not to equate her identity with tasks, others’ evaluations, or results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Isabella Feng, a high school student and YAD member, also shared her struggles and adjustments regarding the desire to win or lose in academics, music, and sports competitions. Siblings Daniel and Angela Wang, who took refuge and received the precepts in 2022 and currently attend the United States Air Force Academy, expressed that when facing failure, they do not indulge in negative emotions but instead use the concept of “impermanence” as nourishment for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Edna Haverkos of the English Subchapter pointed out that learning to detach the “self” from the
